Removal of leaded paints with paint stripper will create sediment that may contain lead that leaches in excess of the RCRA toxicity characteristic (5.0 mg/L), defining it as hazardous waste and the expense of removal and disposal associated with it.

Lead has been identified in structural steel, bridges, light poles, heavy equipment, storage tanks, water towers, concrete, asphalt, ship/platforms and industrial structures.

Render Lead in Paint Non-hazardous......

Enviro-Prep® Chemical Stripper uses a patented treatment chemistry that converts lead to a highly insoluble inorganic compound. The chemical dosage can be tailored to cost-effectively treat any level of lead in paint to less than the RCRA toxicity characteristic (5.0 mg/L) or the Universal Treatment Standard (0.75 mg/L). The treated material remains stable under all “real world” and standard laboratory leaching tests.

Easy Field Application......

Treatment with Enviro-Prep® Chemical Stripper can easily be applied with brushes and/or rollers or sprayed on. Following an initial review of current lead levels (if available) and any project-specific issues, an application thickness can be determined. Enviro-Prep® Chemical Stripper is then applied in the recommended thickness. No special protective equipment is needed beyond what is normally required for painting or stripping paint. Because Enviro-Prep® Chemical Stripper is water-based and pH neutral, it does not create worker contact, wastewater, or material handling problems.
